Afuche biography
AFUCHE started in 2008 as a duo composed by Ruben Sindo ACOSTA (keyboard, vocals and percussion) and Zach RYALLS (guitars), two musicians from Brooklyn. AFUCHE is a percussion instrument typical of African and South American cultures. Later they've been joined by Denny TEK at bass, Andrew CARRICO at sax and Max JAFFE on drums. Their music is a fusion of Afro-Cuban and prog influences. Their website mentions Can, Zappa, King Crimson and even James Brown.

Their first self-released album "I Made Dots ..." was released in November 2009, whilst "Highly Publicized Digital Boxing Match" (2011) has been recorded mostly live in studio with very few textural overdubs which took only one day. The band is signed with Cuneiform Records, the same label of Univers Zero, The Muffins, and Guapo.

They define themselves as "a spastic elastic afro cuban prog noise funk band from South West East Williamsburg Brooklyn." Sadly, Andy CARRICO has passed away on September 12 2012.
