Mencea biography
MENCEA is a progressive death metal band based in Athens, Greece, formed in 2008. Guitarist Stamos KOLIOUSIS, guitarist Vangelis LABRAKIS, and bassist Kostas ALATAS recorded the band's debut album ''Dark Matter, Energy Noir'' that same year and released it via Indie Recordings. The band added vocalist Vlasis ZIOUVAS and drummer Bertrand ROTHEN to the lineup in 2009 during their supporting tour of their debut, and once they finished playing shows, they immediately went into the studio to start to write and record their next album.

The actual recording began in 2010, and over the course of two years, the band completed their second album, ''Pyrophoric''. The album is heavy, eclectic, and dense, furthering their impact on the realm of European metal. The band's dense sound lends many thanks to bands such as MESHUGGAH, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, DEATH, SEPULTURA, and even more progressive giants such as KING CRIMSON, CYNIC and TOOL.
