THENEWNO2 were formed in 2006 in London by Dhani HARRISON (lead guitar, vocals) and Oliver HECKS (drums, synth), but they had actually been working together since 2001. They chose the name THENEWNO2 (the new number two), as homage to the cult classic 'THE PRISONER' as they wanted to be a faceless entity that would allow them to make music on their own, without using Dhani's name to become famous (Dhani is George HARRISON's son).

They released their debut album, 'YOU ARE HERE' in 2009, which was also the year that they undertook their first TV appearances in the States as well as completing a successful tour. On completion of that the band took a short break, as HARRISON concentrated on his other project, FISTFUL OF MERCY featuring HARRISON, Ben HARPER and Joseph Arthur. Their second album, 'THEFEAROFMISSINGOUT' was released July 31st, 2012, and ROLLING STONE listed them as one of the 10 Must-See Acts at that year's LOLLAPALOOZA festival. In 2013 they provided the soundtrack to the film BEAUTIFUL CREATURES and issued a deluxe edition of 'THEFEAROFMISSINGOUT' with additional tracks
