Morta biography
MORTA is a fresh modern fusion band from Toronto, led by bassist and composer Mark RYNKUN. The band consisting of graduates of Humber College music program started out around 2010 doing covers of artists like Herbie HANCOCK, Bob REYNOLDS and Hiromi UEHARA among others. The band leader Mark RYNKUN plays in various other bands that are jazz related so MORTA also mixes various genres. Their releases up to date consist of an EP and a self-titled album that combines older sounds of classic fusion with a couple of notions from modern electronic music with ambient guitars and heavy use of synthesizers; out of modern bands, the sound of MORTA can be compared for example to a more electronic and spacey version of instrumental jam band RUDDER from United States along with influence from other artists they covered in their earlier years like Hiromi UEHARA for example.
