The Apple Zed biography
THE APPLE ZED is a American Crossover Prog band originally hailing from Oberlin, Ohio and now loosely based out of Baltimore, Maryland. The band formed in 2010 when core (get it) members James MATTINGLY (Vocals, Drums), Eric MICHAELS (Lead Vocals, Bass, Guitar) and Matthew SCARBOROUGH (Lead Vocals, Keyboards) became friends while they were students in The Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Oberlin, Ohio, USA. The trio continued to collaborate even after they graduated and went their separate ways.

The band completed their debut album 'The Fruits of Their Labours' in 2014 and plan to release their sophomore effort in short order using what one Zeddite describes as an ''exciting new compositional process''.

The band lists their influences as PORCUPINE TREE, OPETH, RUSH, DREAM THEATER and PINK FLOYD. At times, they sound like a heavy JETHRO TULL driven by SCARBOROUGH's powerful voice and lyrically dense pieces. Att other times, their RUSH influence is particularly noticeable as bassist MICHAELS takes charge of the song. Throughout all of their moods, timekeeper MATTINGLY holds the band together with superb aplomb.
