Kid Cousin biography
KID COUSIN is an American Crossover Prog band. The band is derived from a project that dates back to 2012, when AJ ORTIZ (Lead Guitar, Vocals) and Jeff GREY (Acoustic Guitar, Lead Vocals) began to collaborate and create original material. With a constantly changing lineup, the two resorted to performing many acoustic shows, maintaining a captivating sound of both progressive arrangement and folk-influenced melody. Looking to recruit permanent members, they enlisted the help of Evan SEEBERGER (Bass) and Steve MEA (drums). Together, they recorded an EP of old material that was never officially released, but propelled the band into performing live around the northeast Pennsylvania region. Steve MEA left the group a year later, pursuing a full-time commitment to THE NOCTURNAL JOCKS. Evan SEEBERGER switched to drums and the band brought Greg KNEISS (Bass) in to replace him.
With a steady line up, the band fell into a creative formula and over the course of the next year, compiled the material for their debut album, 'Birth', released in November of 2014. 'Birth' is a combination of their own voice and soul but takes influences from bands such as REIGN OF KINDO, RADIOHEAD, David BAZAN, CLOSURE IN MOSCOW, TAUK, ZELLIACK, THANK YOU SCIENTIST, RUSH and COHEED AND CAMBRIA.
