Cartographer biography
CARTOGRAPHER is a post rock band formed in 2010 in the Netherlands by drummer Bart den OUDEN, bassist Desmond KUIJK, and guitarists Milan ROERDINK, Marvin ROERDINK, and Yoep de LIGHT. In 2010, the band was simply an idea, as the band members were involved in other projects, but in 2011, the band formed into its final form. Soon after their solidification as a band, the band focused on producing their first self-tilted EP, which detailed the five stages of grief written by Dr. Kubler-Ross in an instrumental way. In the emotive way that post rock can, the band explored the five stages and related to personal experience in their playing.

The band saw moderate success from their EP, especially after the band was invited to tour with acts such as KARNIVOOL and WISDOM OF CROWDS. The band then returned to the studio to begin work on their first full-length album, which saw its release in 2014 as A Sea of Sunshine.
