Krakatau biography
Taking their name from the volcanic island of Krakatau situated in the straight between Sumatra and Java, this Melbournian trio seems to have dived straight back into the past for their inspiration. Whether one looks at this trio from an old and violent lava spewing crater or perhaps from the slow ooze of the early Krautrock pioneers such as Tangerine Dream (ca Atem), Popol Vuh and Cluster, the emphasis on an almost primordial soup of sound is nigh on impossible to overlook. The music can be described as loose, heady and mostly improvised.
The band consists of Dylan Lierberman on drums, Danny Smith on bass and last but not least James Tom on all kinds of vintage sounding keyboards. They released their debut 'Water Near A Bridge' on the Trouble In Mind label in 2014 (although recorded back in 2012) and are currently working on their follow up, which should be out in late 2015 early 2016.
