VERMILION

Vermilion biography
Formed in 2009, VERMILION is an instrumental progressive metal band based out of Ghent, Belgium. Their music incorporates attributes of bands such as ANIMALS AS LEADERS and MESHUGGAH with a heavy dosage of jazz fusion as well as electronica-based space rock.

The band was founded by guitarist Timmy SEGERS and keyboardist Michael PENSON after realizing their similar tastes in music. Drummer Tom VANSTEENKISTE and bassist Stef EXELMANS were recruited soon afterwards. Later on a new bassist, Tom EVERAERT replaced Stef and the lineup was complete. Their first self-titled EP was released on October of 2012, and subsequently followed by a remix of one of the songs on January of 2015. Their first full length album, entitled ''Sentience'' came to fruition and was released in February of 2015. With live performances under their belt and more to come, those interested in a strong meshing of metal and jazz should give this a listen.
