Sailor Free is an italian band from early '90's with two album released before disbanding in 1995 and reformed in 2010 and releasing a new album in 2012.. Their second release from 1994 named The Fifth Door is the better one of the three and aswell a very pleasent surprise for me. Psychedelick rock with progressive rock leanings, excellent are the guitar parts from spacey ro more edges not far from Uriah Heep fame, heavy prog very well performed. Overall sound is very retro mainly because the vocalist who is also the keybordist have a very early '70's sound of the keybords, very psychedelic in aproach, not bad at all, his voice aswell is great fiting perfectly in the mix. The album is quite diverse from use of flute on some parts to almost barock violin and sax on other parts not far from VDGG sound (H to he era). All pieces stands as good, not aweak moment here, not highlits aswell, avery obscure album by totaly unknown band but this album worth investigated for sure. 3.5 with out hesitation, good towards great, great cover art aswell.
