4 stars Twelve years after their break up, prog folk band Pentangle was back in business with this album. The only original member that did not return with the others is guitarist John Renbourn, here replaced by Mike Piggott (who also plays some fine fiddle). The sound and style has changed a bit. It´s less jazzy and bluesy than most of their previous efforts and definitely more folk-rock oriented, but it is also very good! The band is great shape. If you liked the old Pentangle you´ll probably enjoy this one too, but if you´re new to the band then Open The Door is an excellent starting point. Very sophisticated british folk, played by highly skilled musicians, with two great singers (Jaqui McShee´s vocals resembling a lot Renaissance´s Annie Haslam). Definitely one of the rare cases of a band´s return that was really worth the waiting. Four stars.
