5 stars This album should finally get t into the heads and ears of the progressive rock communities. It simply has the best the genre has to offer - plus it overcomes the borders set by cliche and tradition, from which so many of "our" releases suffer, with a snug. T includes so much irony (or rather sarcasm?) into his work that the hypnotic and emotionally dense, dark passages are perfectly balanced out. And both extremes feel complemantary, actually: You feel prepared for another soaring guitar solo after having listened to a self-ironic flamenco with bombastic and funny choirs. The indie rock moments somehow legitimate classic prog references. And this is the case in many ways.

And the compositions are full of surprises and relentless rollercoaster moves. That does in no way mean that there were no great bridges between these opposites in style and atmosphere. On the contrary, the whole album does not ever give you a chance of jumping off its train. And every stylistic device sounds perfect, as well in production as in instruments and vocals.

Fragmentropy is a kind of carnival, a whirlwind of ideas and emotions, that keeps you on your toes all the time. But not in an exhausting, unpleasantly artsy way. There is simply too much brilliance and humour included for that. A modern masterpiece for sure.
