2 stars PIKE 139 - OBSERVATION is the 38th album released by BUCKETHEAD in 2015. All instruments played by BUCKETHEAD and clocks in just slightly over the half hour mark at 30:23. This one has four tracks.

"Ob" (4:13) starts off like one of those slow rocking "Colma" clones. Oh no! Luckily it picks up and has some grungy distortion as it goes on still though?. nothing special. Meh. Kinda feels like he's going of the same feel as the last album but it ain't workin' as well.

"ser" (3:53) pretty much continues without notice. The two tracks run into each other imperceptibly. This is another grungy alternative metal rocker. Meh.

"vat" (7:38) starts with a more energetic traditional metal riff and alternates with a more hard bluesy rock / metal lead. It has a decent melodic chord development and sounds pretty good actually but nothing you haven't heard before. Very 70s hard rock in sound with a slightly more grungy feel to it. Think AC/DC meets Nirvana (90s) and you get the picture. Too long. Meh.

"ion" (14:39) is the longest track on the album. This one starts out with a nice distorted grungy riff. It then develops into another sound of sort with different guitar sounds ranging from totally über-grunge to super-distort mellow effects. It changes up quite a bit but keeps a steady rhythm and overall melody in place. After all is said and done this is a long drawn-out and boring romp through mediocrity. Yawn. Snooze. Next.
