4 stars PIKE 188 - LIGHT IN WINDOW is the 87th album released by BUCKETHEAD in the year 2015 and the 13th installment in the countdown to HALLOWEEN. Once again another dark ambient horror soundtrack chock full of freakiness to make all the skeletons come out of the closet with maggots and spiders crawling all over their decomposed statures. All sounds brought to you exclusively by BUCKETHEAD and this PIKE clocks in near the half hour marker at 29:14. All the tracks are titled "Light In Window" and there are 10 parts. All parts basically blend together so this is best listened to as a whole experience.

This album is weird! Imagine that. It starts off with a strange jittery run off the guitar. Sounds like a caterpillar crawling and jumping or something. In the background there are explosions and a echoey saxophone wailing away that sounds like a drunken night in the New York clubs. This is one of the most lysergic pieces of music i've ever heard! If you want out-of-body astral plane types of music then look no further than this one. While the HALLOWEEN pikes make ready use of any sound under the sun and fuse and parade them about, this one has the strangest combinations and the way the timings move like waves and how some echoey while others stagnate is well, really trippy!

Toward the fifteen minute mark there is actually real music on the keyboard in the form of a spooky little riff that plays for about a minute before changing back into spooky randomness. Actually quite effective because it draws me out of my passive zone and immediately back to being an active listener heightening all the weirdness that i had become inured to. While this one may not be as scary as other HALLOWEEN PIKES, this is by far the most surreal so far and that's saying a lot because these are all way out there! This one really quenches my psychedelic thirst and definitely scratches the most lysergic of itches. I like this one a lot.
