3 stars OUR SOLAR SYSTEM are an interesting Psychedelic band out of Sweden. I must admit I was shocked to see that there are 15 members in this band because after spinning it all last week it just didn't seem like it. Included among these musicians is THE AMAZING's Alex Benson who plays bass for Reine Fiske's band, and Mattias Gustavsson from DUNGEN who's adding synths and percussion here and he also helped mix this album. We get two side long tracks and what makes this a little different is the prominent clarinet and piano that pops up at times. We also get besides the usual "Rock" instruments violin, recorder, synths and flute. Love the album cover by the way.

"In The Beginning" opens with clarinet melodies with spacey sounds in the background. A fuller sound kicks in before 2 1/2 minutes. This is very spacey with a steady and catchy rhythm as various sounds come and go until the piano becomes fairly prominent. They seem to jam here until the flavour changes after 8 1/2 minutes as we get a more determined rhythm that becomes the sole focus. This is more intense and the piano continues. The clarinet kicks back in at 10 minutes blasting over top. The horn is dissonant 11 1/2 minutes in as the tempo picks up. It finally settles some before 15 1/2 minutes then it calms down even more a minute later before gradually winding down to the end.

"At The Edge Of Time" opens with spacey sounds as a catchy beat kicks in. Some female vocal melodies and guitar join in as they jam. She starts singing words 8 1/2 minutes in as the guitar steps aside briefly. The groove stops after 11 minutes as we get clarinet and spacey sounds taking over. The bass starts to pulse and soon that's all you here. The bass continues as spacey sounds and more wash in and out. It's building after 14 minutes but it levels out as they continue to jam with a beat and spacey sounds to the end.

This just hasn't clicked with me for some reason and the music doesn't suit the song titles either in my opinion. Still I'd be shocked if you Psychedelic fans didn't really enjoy this.
