4 stars A very interesting Montreal, Canada, based quartet, initiated by Jean-Sebastien Truchy as the main composer, singer and bassist. Like no other outfit they are managing the art of blending an hypnotic krautrock flow and funky groove with avantgarde approach, melody, psychedelic vibe as well as contemporary electronics. With other words, this sometimes sounds like, eh, maybe an hybrid of Turzi, Lumerians and Talking Heads. Their debut still sees founding member Nasir Hasan on drums, not present anymore though on the follower album released in 2017 by the way.

Well, they also are operating with samples a lot. Furthermore, as a very special trademark, you may consider some really fabulous choir vocal arrangements. This one requires full concentration, an intensive tension-filled affair. First suite Face A L'instant opens with an aggressive bang, but soon moves over into their typical style equipped with a funky, motoric beat. Second suite Super Pastiche Fantastique then culminates into the dramatic New Sun IV. A smashing album which closes with the very melancholic outro À Partir De Dorénavant. This is something off the beaten path for you.
