4 stars Fire Merchants' Landlords of Atlantis leans more prog metal and fusiony overall with "Worlds in Modulation" sounding VERY Brand X like "Cambodia" from Do They Hurt? and therefore is my favorite track -- as it smokes! Goodsall really surprised me with "Sybil" which starts off rottenly with punk-grunge-thrash rock and then goes into a prog rock Brand X-ian fugue with Goodsall doing a metalloid fusiony solo -- a truly schizo-whacked track! The remainder of the album is solid enough for fans of Goodsall's axe-work and proggy axe heads. Fusion fans will enjoy unison lines as in "(And Again) Hamsterdam" and "Thing 15". I miss those tighter & more jazzy fusion Brand X-ian jams with more conversational interplay between musicians but this is a trio afterall. They did a great job on this release. I rate this one an 8.7 outta 10.
