5 stars WOW!WHEN THE ALIENS COME is a sensational instrumental album of a very, very talented guitar player from CANADA,called DAVE MARTONE!This album is more than 70 minutes of pure enjoyement for any amateur of great instrumental music-guitar orientated! In today's so crowded world of guitareros,MARTONE is bringing some fresh blood in terms of inovation and originality! What this man can get out of his guitar is simply astonishing!Great solos, senational technical skills ,but most of all, some original and catchy compositions in a so wide range of expression-from power metal to uptempo tones, from power songs to Spanish influenced compositions, from power ballads to prog metal influences -and above all- a great vision of how modern prog fusion power metal should sound!MARTONE has the spark of a genius, with ideas borrowed from ZAPPA or VAI,but the Canadian prodigy is extremelly original- here speaks his unique technicity-really impressive and shocking almost! The production of the album is fabulous, crystal clear and so powerful, but the length of more than 70 minutes of the album is impressive, because of the diversity of the album and excellent compositions,we don't have any second the feeling that some tracks are weak or poor!NO WAY!It's more then 70 minutes of guitar extravaganza at the highest level possible-made by a sensational musician which still has many weapons to be launched in the next years!MARTONE is a very talented as a producer too-the blastering sound of this album proves plenty his technical competences in terms of using the recording technology too!The other musicians involved are very competent, brilliant indeed-DAVE SPIDEL-bass and DANIEL ADAIR-drums , together with PAUL MARTONE on keys-which have serious place here on this album-!This album is hystorical in my opinion,a milestone for the guitar instrumental division and an excellent addition in the collection of any guitar orientated albums lover!5 STARS for something impressive and already essential!
