4 stars This is the sophomore album of a band coming from Braga, Portugal. Musically the quartet around (brothers?) David and Gonçalo Ferreira is delivering some captivating varianted atmosphere here. Sci-Fi author Jack Vance has issued the conceptual template with his classic dystopic novel 'The Blue World'. That is dealing with a nameless planet full of oceans, where human colonists are faced with sea-beasts as the main native creatures. Well, that means they ultimately have to set some dramaturgy into motion, to transfer the adventurous context into the overall musical expression. Hence heavy space rock is the name of the game here as a matter of fact. At some point, when they are acting like Hawkind in best form. This exemplarily will be proved by the songs Golden Eye and Blazing Storm.

But then, during the course of the latter, a new facet comes to the fore. As this, approximately right in the middle, will run into a wonderful fluid psychedelic flow, featuring soaring guitars and synths all over. Wonderful! The next track A Floating Life is connecting to this atmosphere, yep, the track title says it all. Land Soon comes with a slight stoner flavour in sight, just in the vein of Samsara Blues Experiment maybe. Finally The Beast will ultimately be dealt with through a powerful teamwork. Not knowing anything about the story's flow exactly, musically 'Sinking Creation' marks a competent blend of heavy space rock, tempting psychedelic expression and a pinch of krautrock due to some hypnotic motoric rhythm work in between. Considering that alone the album title appears to be contradictory somehow, or what? Great album anyway, should definitely be tested.
