4 stars A lot of classic Italian progressive is being re-released on remastered vinyls these days. This of course sparked my interest and Le Orme LP's had long been on my wish list. The bands's 1972 'Uomo Di Pezza' shows the band fully embracing the keyboard work by ELP, whilst adding some unique vocal theatrics of their own and some gentle folky ballads as well. To be honest, I like Le Orme best when there are vocals (with some parts of Felona & Serona being an exception). The opening piece is one of their better the band made, but the instrumental finale 'Alienazione' is just a chaotic and un-inspired sounding ELP type piece. The five songs between them have exceptionally beautiful melodies and vocal performances by Aldo Tagliapietra. Even a flimsy folk-song like 'Gioco Di Bimba' than becomes a piece of art. Highly recommend Italian prog that is not too fiery or hard to listen to.
