SANCTUARY IV

Robert Reed, keyboardist and multi-musician, is one of the most prominent figures in the British melodic rock scene. Since 2014, he has released albums in the "Sanctuary" series, which pays tribute to his beloved Mike Oldfield. Like the previous works in this series, the album is produced by composer and musician Tom Newman, renowned for producing Mike Oldfield.

In addition to Robert's own multi-track recording, the album also features composer and flautist Leslie "LES" Penning (flautist), who demonstrated his impressive sound on Mike Oldfield's 1975 album, "Ommadawn," one of his most famous works, and has collaborated with Robert on numerous albums. The album also features support from Mike Oldfield's network, including renowned drummer Simon Phillips (drs), who has supported famous artists such as Toto and The Who, has been noted on numerous band and session works, and was a member of Mike Oldfield's albums in the late 80s. The album features an instrumental sound that combines a symphonic sound with strong influences from British folk/traditional and Celtic music, reminiscent of Mike Oldfield's works, with a modern twist, represented by the electric guitar as an accent. The piano, acoustic guitar, recorder, and other acoustic instruments create a minimalist motif while creating a wide, dynamic, and undulating sound. A very enjoyable listen.
