THE BEATLES BALLADS

I remember this one coming out on vinyl in 1980 and it was quite a success, with exclusive cover art and total ballad material, though I avoided it until recently when I decided to become a Beatles collector. But this is a shameful cash in on the Beatles' franchise. Putting all the ballads on one album is a master stroke to rake in the dollars of a defunct band but here it is.

No surprises for the entries on this including quintessential Beatles with Yesterday, Nowhere Man, Hey Jude, Something, The Fool On The Hill, The Long And Winding Road, Here Comes The Sun, Blackbird, And I Love Her and Let It Be. There are also some rather strange choices for the compilation that are perhaps the most interesting, including For No One, Across The Universe, She's Leaving Home and Here, There And Everywhere. Not everything on this is great but it certainly is an interesting exercise in promotion of a band that no longer existed. There is enough on this for 3 stars, but if you are into The Beatles you have heard it all before.
