4 stars Xing Sa did not like the Zeuhl label when I interviewed them. After the interview and while listening to this album, I now understand their sentiments.

This is the debut album from this French band. The first of many albums, I hope. Music wise, they actually reminds me a lot about a more pastorial, somber Soft Machine. For example from Seven. Xing Sa's music also reminds me about the post-rock genre too. Zeuhl ? There are some reminders about that genre too, but they are nowhere near Magma or Shub Niggurath. Most of all; Création de l'univers is a jazz album though. An atmospheric, pastorial jazz album where less is more and the tones gets time to breathe. That is also due to the production and the sound. Both are excellent. The music is based on both tangents, bass, drums and electric guitars. There is hardly any vocals here. The vocals are only used as instruments.

The quality is excellent throughout this album. There is a couple of less interesting melody lines which prevents me from giving it a fiver. But that is only a small gripe. The large part of this album is stunningly beautifully superb. Favorite song ? Most all of it and this album will be a MP3 player favorite when I am going on some walks. I can walk 500 miles with this album in my ears.
