3 stars ALPHA OMEGA are a trio from Australia, under way since 1998. They stand for the heavier side of space rock - similar to Hawkwind, to name one established example. This single production is a new sign of life since they had produced their last full album in 2007. The band aren't on a jamming trip really, the two songs put here are relatively short and compact. We Are The Parasites opens with some genre typical twittering synths, the main section then is dominated by a straightforward garage groove with multiple overdubbed guitars, where the outro is reflecting a relatively experimental falldown.

The Rock really rrrrrocks featuring an enormous drive pushed by the rhythm branch, interrupted by vocal parts which show a floating behaviour. And the guitar work is great again. So overall I find this a good new release from this cosmic Aussie crew. Not something surprisingly new from a stylistical point of view - however Hawkwind fans definitely should have a try when it comes to this band.
