SUNSTRUCK

Throughout the nineteen eigties, Kit Watkins seemed to be moving steadily away from progressive rock and toward new age. And this album, with it's lighness, continues on that path. Luckily for us, despite the new age inclinations, Watkins has at this point still retained his affinity for odd time signatures and experimental sounds.

As light as this album is, there are plenty of moments that catch the ear and make you want to listen. And the long airy tone poem pieces toward the end of the album are nice for introspection.

But I hope this path is not one that Watkins stays on for too long.
