3 stars Elephant & Castle is one of the most obscure neo prog bands ever came from France. They've had a short career with one album released in 1991 on small french label who doesn't exist anymore UGUM, responsable for issuing bands like Abel Ganz or Comedy of Errors among others. The music is to me enjoyble, not very complex moments presented here, very much in vein of IQ or Machiavel, neo prog not of the highest calibre but pleasent most of the time. The album also is very short only 6 pieces all clocking around 30 min, not very much instrumental passages, but the ones who existed here are ok. I like the voice of Steinberger specialy on opening track Between Now And Then, on the rest is ok. Not very much to talk about , not very much is known also about this unknown band, only that they relese this album and then gone into oblivion. As I red on other prog pages, this band were trying to capture the beautiful smothness of neo prog of the '80's as bands done in that period like IQ, Marillion and Abel Ganz, not entirely succeded, besides that the pieces are ok, nothing really stands as exciting or really impressive, they were more followers then on their own. So all in all 3 stars for this one not bad not something special either, very intristing cover art.
