2 stars Triangulus was an all-star project created by Ragnarok's bassist and guitarist, Peter Bryngelsson and Dan Johnson respectively, in 1983.For this reason they invited famous Swedish/Scandinavian musicians to join them like flutist Björn J:son Lindh, cellist Ove Karlsson from Arbete och Fritid, violin player Raimo Juntunen and drummer Hans Bruniusson from Samla Mammas Manna.Appearances are also credited to Ragnarok's drummer Thomas Wiegert, keyboardist Lars Liljegren from Epizootic and Ingela Trulsson on fretless bass. The debut ''Triangulus with Björn J:son Lindh'' came out in 1986 on Silence Records and for US market on Breakthru Records.

Regarding the talented members involved in this project, one can wait for some trully brilliant and majestic progressive music, unfortunately what we listen is very far from these standars. We are talking about mid-80's here and the main composers of this project, Bryngelsson and Johnson, decided to go along the cliches of the period. The album is a typical New Age work with soft Rock elements here and there, where plastic-sounding flutes, programmed drums and cheap keyboards have the main roles, trying to create dreamy soundscapes, but failing miserably.Additional colors delivered by smooth cello work, vibraphones and acouistic guitars will not help either.Only a couple of tracks offer some good moments and traces of this project's compressed talent, like the second part of ''Sirius B'' and its nice electric-led FLOYD-ian atmosphere with this cool guitar solo or the decent ''Digitaria'', which starts off with nice acoustic New-Age textures to develop in a great grandiose electric solo towards the end.The rest of the album: Don't even think about it,simply boring.

A huge dissapointment, Triangulus' debut has almost nothing to do with the unique past of its all-star line-up and should be a nice treausre only in the hands of New Age buffers, while PINK FLOYD fans should give this a spin or two.The two long and decent compositions of the second side save this work from being a total failure.
