4 stars This band has risen very quickly in the progressive metal scene in Colombia, having just in the last year released an album, finished 2nd in the main countrywide independent rock showcase, and gotten two nominations for best album art and best new producer/keyboardist. Although the metal scene has changed in recent years in South America, even in countries with a stronger rock tradition such as Argentina and Brazil, black and heavy metal still seem very prevalent. With Modern Day Sisyphus, this band brings a refreshing sound not just to the region but the progressive world.

Some of the highlights include the energetic Of Man and Moth, the eclectic Unwilling Flame, and the grandiose Event Horizon. At times Pain of Salvation and Porcupine Tree come to mind with well-placed acoustic guitars and very pervasive keyboards. And even though each song seems to have some atmospheric elements, most guitars, bass, drumming, and vocals seem deeply rooted in traditional progressive metal.

Finally, the concept is ambitious. The cover art is reminiscent of the big names of the 70s (Yes, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, ELP), and together with the lyrics, it explores the confrontation between reason and emotion through Sisyphus's mythological cyclic task. Vocals are aptly emotive tying together a great proposal from a band that shows great potential with this impressive debut.
