3 stars So, here it is, we are in 1972-1973, just before the release of Arti & Mestieri's cult album "Tilt" and a young student with no money was experimenting with recordings, using two stereo tape recorders bouncing tracks from one machine to the other. This album will probably appeal to fans of both Arti & Mestieri and Venegoni & Co, not alone because of the embryonal versions of *later to become hits* "Aliante" and "Gravità 9.81" but also because of the fascinating and strong will of musicians who had to cope with dreams and no money. On Ante Tilt, anyone interested in sound manipulations will for example hear how the band used a Farfisa organ with phasing and echo to emulate the mellotron which they couldn't afford! And so on, the creativity was flowing and the means at disposal were the result of the former! So despite the fact that this album obviously has a documentary value, it also on a charming way shows you the possibilities of the times, when musicians really wanted to achieve something. For this I would not hesitate to give an extra star to an album that normally would fit the description of two stars (collectors/fans only). So, yes, three stars!
