2 stars Even if we're far from the better album released in 2007, this first shot sounds very sympathic. Of course, listening to it in 2012 does make a difference, since a lot of the atmospheres presented here sound today like heard hundred times; a similar post rock feel and some of the harmonic motions could easily be found by many many other Scandinavian bands (Jaga Jazzist, Bushmen's Revenge, etc...). If I had to point out one thing striking out as unique, this would be the pseudo Brazilian samba feel used in the tune "Drink What I Drink", humouristically placed after a rather catchy jazz-rock riff ending in a break. Some of the "field" or half-industrial bits are also well paced and cool, except on the last track where they are meaningless! The music fades out at 6:30 and only the last minute starting precisely at 10:00 justifies this weirdly conceived hidden track. But all in all, the album "Ripples and Swells" from 2007 is the one that I would advise to check first!
