Rising Tides in Still Water is a song that tries to rectify feelings of ambitious desire with societal pressures and the banality of existence. The song confronts the repetitive tasks of everyday life and the expectations of a callous world. The music is meant to take the listener on a journey through the trials of one person''s life, however it is a life that should look familiar to us all. As one tries to cope, we also cope; as one cries, we cry. And ultimately, as one gives up and accepts fate, we muck our hands and turn a blind eye to a once-youthful exuberance.
