5 stars A criminally overlooked band ,Carmen produced three albums in their short-span life of two and a half years in mid seventies."Fandangos in space",their first offering was groundbreaking flamenco induced masterpiece filled with unbelievable rhytmical twists and top notch musicianship, especially from one of my all time favorite bassists, late John Glascock. From the opening song "Bulerias" you know that this is something special.Very emotional, catchy songs, not your usual progrock.Never before,or after I first heard this band in late seventies, I had a chance to listen anything remotely similar to this highly original outfit. It is said that Carmen was one of David Bowie's most cherished bands at the time and that their stage act highly influenced early Queen.Of course,I never had a chance to see them live, but for references go to the band's official site and chek couple of concert video clips.Amazing!Anyway,I urge any proghead to check this band.Angel Air records released their first two albums as a double couple of months ago and package is worth every penny.A definite masterpiece!
