4 stars After publishing hundreds of reviews about lesser known prog bands and adding dozens of unknown groups to this site, it was a challenge to write the The Doors biography and add this captivating four piece band to Prog Archives.

This DVD features my favorite The Doors concert footage, mainly because of the mindblowing renditions of Light My Fire (great work on psychedelic sounding organ and raw guitar and legendary scenes from Jim challenging the audience with his microphone), Spanish Caravan (awesome flamenco guitar intro, then the exciting blend of classical - Isaac Albeniz his composition Asturias -, rock and psychedelia) and When The Music's Over (what a tension when Ray plays his repetetive, gradually slower runs on the Fender piano bass, Jim is almost in a shamanic ritual dance). It's fun to listen to the stories of Jefferson Airplane members Grace Slick and Paul Kantner when they shared the bill with The Doors in Europe in 1968 and we can enjoy a cheerful playback performance during Hello I Love You, recorded in the streets of the German city Frankfurt (Jim is obviously pleased with the German girls in mini skirts and a bottle of wine!). The final track Alabama Song delivers pictures from the famous Parisian graveyard Père Lachaise where Jim was burried after his tragic death in a Parissian hotel in 1971.

I would like to recommend this DVD to all progheads who want to discover The Doors, this is a wonderful introduction!
