AMUSED TO DEATH

According to the PA ratings, Radio K.A.O.S is 'good but non-essential' while Amused to Death is 'excellent addition' etc. Excusez-moi, je ne comprends pas why it belongs to other category. I'd say, with the exception of The Ballad of Bill Hubbard and a couple of themes more, this album is nothing but 'K.A.O.S. II'. In 1987 or 1988 I read an article in a rock magazine (Classic Rock, or Metal Hammer, or Kerrang, I don't remember). That article described in detail how commercially successful Radio K.A.O.S. was, and how carefully Waters made the album, and how deeply Waters was satisfied with its success, and how quickly Waters was headed for his studio on Bahamas 'to cut songs for the K.A.O.S. II album' (sic!). No album was later released under that title. But four or five years later Waters released Amused To Death. Guess it's what was meant. At least musically this album deserves a comparison to its predecessor. Maybe not so trite and boring, but more difficult to listen to the end. Radio K.A.O.S. was 42 minutes only, while this (sorry Lord) masterpiece is as long as 72,5 minutes of running time. Intolerable.
