4 stars Extremely plesent find. I had heard of Gojira in an offhand mannor from an Isis fan and thought that they would be simmiler so i looked them up and saw some good reviews and more Isis connections. SOooo when i was browsing my local i saw it and decided to pick it up. good move. it reminds me a lot of mastodon. the vocals are a little more one dimmensional and the guitars not AS complex but they are still very unique in their own way. Texture here is a huge part of Gojira's music, sweeping, majestic layers of sound. its still very heavy, but it doesnt make you want to headbang. its trippy, MikeEnRegalia got it right when he said its hypnotic or avant/garde, and therin lies the connection to Isis. the use of reptative riffs and structures, all layered with the awesome textures that kind of lull you off into the oceans and whales Gojira sing about. Really cool CD
