4 stars It was obvious after 'A', that Jethro Tull was going to take their music in a different direction. In my opinion, 'A' was their definite weakest album along with 'Under Wraps' with that electronic/art rock sound to both of them. It is pretty enjoyable to know that they changed their mind at least a little after 'A' with 'Broadsword and the Beast'.

This is a definite comeback after the largely electronic sound they had started to develop. In fact, this is sort of a heavy mix of both prog rock and electronic rock with songs like "Beastie", "Broadsword", and "Watching You Watching Me" are all great Tull classics. Progressive riffs accompany softer electronic beats and make a blend that is no doubt interesting. It is disappointing to know that 'Under Wraps' pretty much ruined the potential effect this album could have had on the band in the future, but I do still think that in the end, Jethro Tull took the right direction and went out with a bang.

If you prefer the later Tull period over the early, this is a definite purchase for you.

Go give it a listen.
