This wonderful compilation was the second YES CD I purchased, the first being "Close to
the edge". I`d been a big YES fan since before the release of the "90125" album in`83,
owning all the albums on vinyl, but by the early nineties it was time to move to CD`s.
This is where "Classic Yes" comes into the picture...I HAD to buy "Close to the edge" first
on CD...it was, and still is my favorite YES album... buying "Classic Yes" next was, I
thought, an inspired move. It had some of the best YES songs from their inspired `golden`
era mostly 1971-72...I thought, I`ll buy this and then I`ll have enough YES to do for now!
WRONG! "Classic Yes" really broke me into YES for the second time...I knew I`d HAVE to
buy as much of the back catalogue as financially possible! So, looking back on it, I have to
say "Classic Yes" is a really good place to start if you don`t want to dive head first into
the"Topographic Oceans" and end up washed out, let down or confused...I guarantee
if "Classic Yes" is your first YES album, it will not be your last!
