3 stars This is the first album of Blind Guardian, dare to say the greatest Power Metal artists. Looking back from year 2007 one can say that there is nothing special about this album. At the same time when I first heard this album, (it was 1990 when Kai Hansen already left Helloween, if it tells anything to anybody...), it was evident that the star of BG is rising. If somebody of prog fans is interested in Blind Guardian I would recommend to start with the Nightfall... For Battalions of Fear 'good, but not essential (as prog)' would be very fair rating.
