5 stars This is my very favorite music album and represents the pinnacle of progressive rock for me. If you're a prog fan and haven't heard this, you need to remedy this immediately. I know this is one of the top five most rated albums on PA as of now, but I couldn't very well refrain from acknowledging the album that started my love of progressive music.

The sublime and chilling beauty of Shine On You Crazy Diamond Part I and the famous four note guitar phrase are some of my earliest musical memories. Due to my extreme familiarity with this album it took me until my teens to recognize how meticulously constructed and outstanding the music was. It's one of the few albums where I feel every single note serves a purpose.

One thing I love about this album is that it gives Rick Wright a chance to shine, if you'll excuse the pun. Wish You Were Here finds the band at the peak of its popularity, where they would have been tempted and pressured into writing Dark Side of the Moon Part 2. I realize that it was a stressful time for the band members and the fact they managed to top themselves makes it all the more impressive.
