3 stars "So" (1986) is maybe PETER GABRIEL's most accessible album. It has mostly very good songs and he even was trying to give to his music a more Pop Rock style then, without losing his musical identity, in a year in which other Prog Rock artists (GENESIS, EMERSON LAKE & POWELL, GTR) were also trying to "update" their sound for the mid eighties. All of these artists had some success doing it.

This 12" single has two versions of "In Your Eyes", which is one of my favorite songs from "So" and from all the music that I have listened to from GABRIEL as soloist.

The first version of "In Your Eyes" is a bit different to the album's version, not only in lenght but also in the sound mixing and with the use of some additional lyrics which GABRIEL sang in some live versions of the song (for example, in the live version which he included in his "PoV" concert video which was recorded in Greece in 1987). The song also starts in a similar way like the live version from "PoV".

The second version, called "In Your Eyes (Special Mix)", is more different in structure and arrangements to the album's version, and it seems that GABRIEL also included some parts of this arrangement in some live versions of this song. But this "Special Mix" version sounds more like "ambient music" or "soundtrack music" in some places.

I prefer the original version of "In Your Eyes" from the "So" album. But both versions which were included in this single are good. But I don't remember if both of them or at least one of these versions were played in the FM radio stations of my city. I only remember listening in the radio to the original album's version. Anyway, it is a very good song.

The other track which was included in this single is an extended version of "Biko" from his third self-titled album from 1980.
