3 stars This isn't a bad album at all and Ron Tree is a Robert Calvert-esque character and brings an edge to Hawkwind in both his singing and the spoken word. There aren't any bad tracks as such but in some parts the album seems to lose its way. The highlights though are worthwhile. Xenomorph has great sci-fi lyrics and a pulsing rhythym. Sputnik Stan is a classic, with sleazy Stan in charge of clearing away space junk - great chorus, great track. The spacey ambient stuff works well too, especially Vega. All in all, a good album from a great band during their declining years. Interestingly, a lot of these tracks appear on their live DVD Love In Space where they sound much better.
