5 stars This album is just fantastic. I had really been "into" the early Tull sounds of Benefit and Stand Up, but as time progresses (and I got some more money!) I started listening to Tull's music as they matured. I think that it is safe to say that HEAVY HORSES is Jethro Tull's last MASTERPIECE of new, original material. This is not to say albums like Stormwatch, Bursting Out, A, or Broadsword are rubbish, just that Heavy Horses stands above them. This album takes off from where Songs From the Wood left off, and expands on those themes in ways that are reminiscent of Thick As A Brick and the lighter sides of Stand Up, War Child, and Aqualung. The sound is crisp, refined, and amazing. My favorite tracks include: And the Mouse Police Never Sleep (by far the best on the album in my opinion), Acres Wild, One Brown Mouse, and the title track. Every song on this album is incredible; their best work since Thick As A Brick.
