4 stars Kansas really did a great job on this album, but the melodies are sometimes far too predictable. 'Carry on a Wayward song' is a song with great riffs, and stunning vocals. The solo's are also very well, but the couplet and the chorus are too 'familliar'. Lots of songs have a standard kind of structure, but have very surprising instrumental parts. The solo's are really great and their is one highlight on this album: 'Magnum opus.' This is a quite innovative piece with lot's of complex melodies and time structures. It's a stunning piece, which really rocks. I think it's one of the best Kansas pieces. Four stars, I only think the melodies are a bit lame on this album at a few moments.
