VARIATIONS ON A DREAM is an accessable and brilliant album.

Strong similarities can be drawn between the style of PINEAPPLE THIEF and PORCUPINE TREE, without the metal riffs of Steven WILSON. The vocals are reminiscent of RADIOHEADS "OK Computer", and other vocalists mentioned in other reviews. The guitar and keyboards are memorable and create a pleasant harmony with the vocals.

Standout tracks are "Vapour Trails". "Sooner or Later", "Part Zero", "Keep Dreaming" and the epic "Remember Us". "Vapour Trails" and "Remember Us" are the more progressive tracks, the latter in particular. Other tracks are a bit light weight progressively, but they are of a high standard.

The mood of the album is melancholy while being hopeful and uplifting. It is great to listen to in a comfortable, relaxed environment.
