2 stars Right I know I'm going against the flow massively here but I think I better give you my opinion. Though this album was no doubt influential that dosn't mean it was any good. The song-writing of Jim Morrison is hugely over-rated and comes across as no better than weak school poetry. His best work on this album is 'break on through' which is inexpicably marred by terrible instrumental perofrmances from the rest of the band. The music through and through is deeply uninspired which is to be expected with the music having being written to fit round the lyrics. The guitar parts generally sound subdued and bored the drumming is weak and uninspired. The final track through influential prog-wise is a long dull jam with no drive or direction. The subject matter in this song is the standard mope-rocker fare: death, broken love etc.

To sum up throuh hugely influential this album is dull, uninspired drivel for one of the most over-rated band from the sixties. (The scond star is becasue I'm feeling kind)
