5 stars One of the best heavy metal/hard rock albums ever

Please note that I am reviewing the original album with the classic track listing. I got this album 25 years ago as a rotten, second hand cassette/tape. The first minutes of a jumbo jet crashing into their instruments........ or something like that got me wondering about the quality of this tape. But thankfully; it was only the opening minutes of Speed King and it was meant to be like that. The album soon opened up and revealed itself as a truly remarkable output from a reborn band. Deep Purple mark 1 has never done anything for me..... except from curing my insomnia. Mark 2, the classic Deep Purple on the other hand was brilliant in my view and they delivered some truly great albums. In Rock is the opening salvo from them.

There is no point of reeling of the songs here. Child In Time is the best track. The rest of the album is brilliant too. By stating that this album is one of the best hard rock/heavy metal albums of all time, I guess you all understand where I am heading. The music is heavy, innovative, playfull and teasing at times. It is like being headbutted by a horse and being kissed by a butterfly at the same time. This album will forever be one of the mainstays in my record collection.

My second 5 stars of today, I am afraid. But I guess I may be forgiven.
