5 stars The tenth studio album by Pink Floyd, it was plagued with a lot of problems in its conception, basically by the dispute with Waters ideas. Also, Gilmour only cowrite one of the songs (Dogs), and is the first album where Wright didn't contribute with lyrics. Two of the song were taken by unreleased song of Wish you were here ( "Raving and Drooling" and "You've Got to Be Crazy") and adapted to the new album concept. It is based in the book of Orwell, Animal Farm, with some modification in the history and focusing on capitalism. Musically a masterpiece, the band still corroborating, every one of them putting his best in the album. Waters with its ingenuous lyrics and rhythms, Gilmour putting his amazing solos and riffs, Wright setting the ambient with his keyboard passages and outstanding solos, Mason directing by the drum and his perfect changes of time. There is nothing more to say every second of this record is perfect, is difficult to say if it is the best or Wish you were here, but musically is more elaborated. Other masterpiece by Pink Floyd, they was still working together, although the problems had begun, they still put their best effort. As all know, although the main composer of the lyrics is Waters, every members collaborate a lot to the final product, Waters always have really good ideas, however without Pink Floyd, musically they will never be successful as this one, as we can see in each of his albums. Ironically, he became most of the things he criticized. A must have album for any prog listener.
