3 stars Between 3 and 4 stars depending on what sides of Steve Wilson we are in for !

As a first review (ever) on Progarchives, I choose the latest of one of my favorite artist these days : Steve Wilson's Insurgentes.

Insurgentes is really a side project of musical pieces that might appeard separatly on many Porcupine Tree album - especially those before "Lightbulb Sun" - but taken as a whole, it is surely distant from the Porcupine Tree previous album.

Insurgentes is a collection of pieces which are pretty different from one to another. bet they are all related between themselves by a mood of melancholic desperation. Steve Wilson' style of singing is similar to what's he was doing in his early albums (the Delerium years). Also, there are lots of ambiant instrumental sections. Throught out this album, I sometimes got the feeling of what Mark Hollis (of Talk Talk) has made with his last two studio albums (Spirit of Eden & Laghing Stock).

This Solo album is far (as far as it could be considering Steve Wilson) from the latest Porcupine Tree and, probably far from the next one and we might be a liitle surprised at the first spin. But it surely worth the price.

Songs like "Veneno Para Las Hadas", "No Twilight Within the Courts of the Sun", "Significant Other", and "Get All You Deserve" are among the highlights of the album.
