5 stars Yep, this is Pink Floyd's apex. This is truly a masterpiece. Extremely focused and a great attention to detail.

What I really love about this is the aggressiveness that you feel in the lyrics and instrumentals. Also, it's Floyd in their prime, so the production is some of the best ive ever heard. We have the two great shorter pig songs, but i'm going to mostly speak of the longer tracks

We open with the epic Dogs, any time I hear that acoustic guitar fade in, my heart starts beating faster. This track goes through many different sections, but I feel that every single note of every instrument was meticulously thought out and played perfectly. This is Gilmours only song on lead vocals and he does great, but his Guitar playing really shines. The long "stone" section and playout is just so damn cool, it's hard not to notice Wrights synth playing there, but its a great detail. In the end, we are hit with a hard hitting climax with Roger on lead.

Pigs (Three Diff Ones) These to me are the best lyrics on the album, that intro has the same effect on me as Dogs does. By far my favorite part is the dark interlude where gilmour comes in with the talk box. It's also worth highlighting Rogers Vocal job and Gilmours explosive guitar solo at the end

Pigs fades out and Sheep fades in, Wright is given time to have a little bluesy jam on the keys. The band all explosively comes in at once, Rogers sustained vocal lines fade into a synth tone (which was a detail I only noticed while high but damn is it cool!) Once again my favorite part is the darker interlude that goes on for a bit right before the band comes back in full power. I may sound like a broken record, but the lyrics are great and the intensity throughout this track is top notch.

Animals is my second favorite album of all time and contains my three favorite Floyd songs, Easy 10/10
