5 stars This is the best Camel album. They take the best qualities of their first 3 albums and created something that is truly out of this world.

Moonmadness has a very ethereal feel, every member plays together to create a sound that almost can't even be described as music as nothing else really sounds like it. Some of my favorite sections are those accompanied by Latimers flute playing during the softer moments on, for example, Song Within a Song and Air Born. Aristillus is a really cool marching sort of synth led opener. The second track, Song Within a Song is my favorite song ever made. The mellow electric piano towards the beginning hits me in the feels, but the last minute of this song is truly transcending. The buildup of this final section is what really makes it hit so hard. Chord change is another Camel classic where the guitar and keys really play off of each other which ends up building up to a beautiful slower guitar solo. Spirit of the Water is a short mellow track with mostly keys and some recorder in the mix. I love the piano parts in the backround of this track. It has a real ethereal and ghostly feel to it for lack of a better term, Side two opens up with the heavy "Another Night." On this track, the rhythm section of the band really excels. My favorite part is the bass breakdown with the subtle guitar adding details in the backround. The song ends with a really nasty guitar solo and bluesy organ solo. Air Born is my second favorite track on the album. The flute in the intro is beautiful, but my favorite section is the piano section in the middle which builds to a huge finale. The ending guitar playing the main melody is just pure bliss. Lunar Sea is a powerhouse of a track where really every member gets to show off a little. Words can't really describe the pure awesomeness of the synth section a few minutes in. However, it's Andy Latimer who steals the show in the final minutes of this song with an absurdly killer guitar solo.

Moonmadness is a perfect album, is it the greatest album of all time? Well.... it might be
